Jeffrey Edward Epstein — born 20 Jan 1953, Brooklyn, New York; died 10 Aug 2019 at MCC New York (suicide per NYC Medical Examiner).
Ghislaine Noëlle Marion Maxwell — born 25 Dec 1961, Maisons-Laffitte, France; convicted 29 Dec 2021; sentenced 28 Jun 2022 (SDNY, 20 years). Incarcerated in the US.
Virginia Louise (Roberts) Giuffre — born 9 Aug 1983; died 25 Apr 2025, Neergabby, Western Australia (death by suicide reported by major outlets).

1980s — Andrew told Emily Maitlis he had known Maxwell since she was an undergraduate in Oxford (she graduated from Balliol College, Oxford, in 1985). They moved in the same society circles.
Late 1980s/early 1990s — Epstein and Maxwell met in Manhattan high society circles. Their relationship was widely reported as romantic by the mid-1990s and they remained close after that.
1999 (Andrew’s account) — Andrew says he met Epstein via Ghislaine Maxwell. Some aides have suggested the link may date to the early 1990s; all accounts put Maxwell as the connector.

c. 2000 (allegation) — Giuffre says Maxwell recruited her at Mar-a-Lago (Palm Beach) when she was 16, drawing her into Epstein’s abuse network.
10 Mar 2001 (alleged date) — Night at Tramp nightclub, London, followed by Maxwell’s Belgravia home (44 Kinnerton St.); the photograph of Andrew with Giuffre (Maxwell behind) later becomes public. Andrew questions the photo and denies ever meeting Giuffre.
2001 (allegations) — Giuffre alleges two further sexual encounters with Andrew (in New York; Little St James, USVI). Andrew denies all allegations.

2006–2008 — Florida federal probe culminates in a controversial non-prosecution agreement; on 30 Jun 2008 Epstein pleads to state offences involving a minor, serves ~13 months, and registers as a sex offender.

2009 — Giuffre settles a civil claim against Epstein (later disclosed as $500,000 when unsealed in 2022).
Dec 2010 — Andrew photographed walking with Epstein in Central Park, New York; he later says the meeting was to end contact.
Feb 2011 — UK tabloids publish the London photo of Andrew with Giuffre.
28 Feb 2011 (newly reported) — Email from Andrew to Epstein, the day after the photo first ran, says: “We are in this together … keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon!!!!” — contradicting Andrew’s later claim he severed ties in Dec 2010.

30 Dec 2014 / 2 Jan 2015 — In CVRA filings, “Jane Doe #3” (later public as Giuffre) names Andrew over alleged 2001 abuse. Andrew denies.
7 Apr 2015 — A US judge strikes the Andrew references as immaterial to that case’s relief (no finding on truth).

6–9 Jul 2019 — Epstein arrested and indicted in SDNY for sex trafficking of minors.
10 Aug 2019 — Epstein dies in federal custody (suicide, per authorities).
16 Nov 2019 (aired; recorded 14 Nov) — BBC Newsnight: Andrew cites the Pizza Express (Woking) alibi and claims inability to sweat; he denies meeting Giuffre. 20 Nov 2019 — Andrew steps back from royal duties.

2 Jul 2020 — Maxwell arrested (SDNY).
29 Dec 2021 — Maxwell convicted of sex trafficking of a minor; 28 Jun 2022 — 20-year sentence.
9 Aug 2021 — Giuffre sues Andrew in SDNY under New York’s Child Victims Act (battery & IIED); Andrew denies.
3 Jan 2022 — 2009 Epstein–Giuffre settlement unsealed ($500k).
12 Jan 2022 — Andrew’s motion to dismiss denied.
15 Feb 2022 — Settlement announced (sum undisclosed; donation to Giuffre’s charity); case dismissed Mar 2022; no admission of liability.

Jan 2024 — A large cache of Epstein/Maxwell documents is unsealed; among the materials are depositions referencing an alleged 2001 New York incident involving Andrew (which he denies).

25 Apr 2025 — Giuffre dies in Western Australia; major outlets report suicide.
1 Aug 2025 — Maxwell is moved to a minimum-security prison camp
Oct 2025 — Posthumous memoir extracts restate the 2001 allegations.
12–13 Oct 2025 — 2011 email(s) from Andrew to Epstein surface via UK media: “we are in this together … we’ll play some more soon!!!!” (28 Feb 2011). Coverage across broadsheets and broadcasters.
17 Oct 2025 — Announcement 1: Andrew will stop using “Duke of York” (usage ended with the King’s agreement; not yet full legal removal).
31 Oct 2025 — Announcement 2: Palace begins the formal process to remove all styles and titles (including “Prince”); Andrew is ordered to surrender the Royal Lodge lease and will move to a private residence on the Sandringham Estate; future styling Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
